Heisman - what do you think?
Sunday, October 21, 2012 6:18 PM

We are halfway thru the season and Heisman contenders have come and gone like TK's women in Toledo from the 80's, so who's grabbed your eye and what does your ballot look like? Is it Collin Klein? Has Geno Smith completely killed his chances? Is Matt Barkley back in the mix? What about his teammate Robert Woods? Does Denard still have a shot? Maybe Braxton Miller or DeAnthony Thomas? Go Blue!!
Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

I think Geno may have played his way out the race the last two weeks. Collin Kline from K-State is probably the favorite now.

If the Heisman was voted for today, Klein would win it hands down. A week ago I would have said Geno Smith in a close call with Klein and Miller. 2 weeks ago Smith by a landslide. I still do not get why DeAnthony Thomas is on everyone's Heisman radar....especially over Kenjon Barner who has 971 total yards and 13 total TDs to Thomas' 611 yards and 9 TDs. Robinson's only chance is to be amazing the rest of the year and have everyone else fall off the map. Barkley I think can get back into the mix with win over Oregon in which he plays great football. As for Woods, in general WRs do not win the Heisman anymore. For Woods to win it he would have to put up great numbers and be a special teams force in big game ala Desmond Howard or Tim Brown. A couple that I think are dark horses in the mix, Manti Te'o and Teddy Bridgewater

I think Klein has to be considered the favorite at this point. Especially after he went head to head with Smith and completely outperformed Smith yesterday. I think it's a joke that ESPN is putting their Barkley hype machine in motion once again?! I'm supposed to be impressed that he carved Colorado's defense in LA yesterday? Has anyone seen Colorado play??? They are HORRIBLE! I'm also not buying Miller for Heisman either. If Denard had to face the same opponents Braxton has faced this season, Denard would be a Heisman frontrunner. Braxton has faced one top 10 defense and fared about the same as Denard did against Moo U. The difference is, 3 Michigan's 7 opponents have top 10 defenses and as a result, Denard is no longer a Heisman favorite...
GO BLUE!!!

I don't care, as long as Made of Glass Miller doesn't win.

miller wont win especially since they had a comeback win without him. Smith played his way out. Right now its probably Klein's to lose. Then I would say Mccarins and Barkley as outside chances if Klein falters

Remove the player from the team and what do you have left...? Not only stats but effectiveness, and decision making, and skill set...It's Collin Klein and Jeff Driskel...then everyone else...Manziel, AJ Mac etc..

There is one player that I think deserves it right now that is getting absolutely ignored and that is WR Terrance Williams at Baylor. He is currently top 5 in almost all statistical categories as a receiver and is on pace for over 2000 yards receiving and 18 TDs.

My top 5 as of right now #1 Colin Klein #2 Kenjon Barner (would be #1 but he usually sits in the 2nd half) #3 Johnny Manziel #4 Braxton Miller #5 Marqise Lee

I would put Te'o in my top 5. He ignites the ND defense to play at the level they are. Without him they have at least 3 losses. Yesterdays play where he rolled on the ground to sack the QB proved to me what a leader he is.

I still think Te'o is the man to beat. I know all the defensive player issues but take him from the Domer's defense and they are average at best. It helps he has the ND bias working in his favor too. GO BLUE!

He's a good LB, but has no business being in the Heisman conversation. His DL gives him free rain and he went largely unnoticed yesterday. There are more worthy options for the Heisman, IMO. Go Blue!!

Barner, Klein and Lee. But Barner hands down for me. The guy is ridiculous.

The RB for Oregon. Teo is only in the discussion because his mom and grand mom died in the same week or something like that.....every since then its been a cry me a river fest for him to get a Heisman....Thats just my opinion. There is and always will be ONLY one defensive Heisman winner.
Michigan vs tsiO rivalry: 58 wins, 36 losses, 6 ties, & 9 CHEATS Hoke: 1-1 Urban 1-1 vs. UM

I would say right now that Barner is the favorite. USC could have Barkley and Lee in the convo if they weren't struggling so heavily right now. My list right now goes: 1. Barner 2. Klein (even though I don't think his stats necessarily warrant it, he is the quarterback on an undefeated team with good to pretty good stats) 3. Teo

Te'o is the Quarterback of that defense and is the reason their defense plays as well as it does and has ND in the NC talk. It really drives me crazy that the media and fans in general are so locked in to the belief that the Heisman has to go to an offensive player or someone who touches the ball as a PR/KR yet damn near everyone preaches "defenses win championships". If it is typically true that defenses win championships then why is it not also true that the guy that drives the defensive train is not the best player in all of college football and as such deserves to be in the Heisman talk? GO BLUE!
