Broke off a nifty 20 yard run today and then promptly fumbled it at the 1 yard line of the back of the end zone ruining his first career pro TD.  LOL.  Sucked for him.

Four touches in a month isn't much to go on, but at the same time this is the pros, so you have to be ready when your number's called. They's payin' you, dammit (sic).

I'll love 16 forever and I'm proud he's playing on Sundays, even in a limited role.  I hope he finds an OC that can capitalize on his talent.  He could be a Percy Harvin-type guy, if given the chance.

I was watching Redzone most of the day.  He seemed out there on the field quite a bit, but Henne never even looked at him on pass plays.  The TD they scored late had him in the backfield they ran a play action off of.  It's almost like they think he's a better decoy than anything else, but eventually you have to let your decoy do something.

Don't want to brag that I said he'd be a non-factor in the NFL, but he's just too small/not fast enough to do much with the big guys.

When you don't have a true position- hard to do much.

It'd also help if he were with a team that wasn't the Jaguars.

He was plenty fast on the 20 yard run.......The question is going to be his ability to hold on to the football.  That was his first fumble of the season.  Just needs more touches to get use to the hitting, IMO.

You shouldn't because you and every other person with a heartbeat said the exact same thing.

Yet you were all arguing about it before it became obvious.

Debating whether or not Denard was going to be a good pro or not was never a debate because he's not going to be.

Debating whether or not Denard should have been our QB last year and his value to our team was a good debate.

The 2 debates are completely separate from each other.

Do you understand that?

Go Blue!!

Smaller players than Denard have and are legitimate players in the NFL. Danny Woodhead, Dante Hall, and  Trindon Holliday come to mind immediately.

Size has nothing to do with it IMO.

Size and speed aren't the issues, what he lacks are fundamentals. He has a lot to learn in order to become a serviceable pro including pass catching, route running, and ball security....luckily most of these things can be taught.

Making Denard a regular running back is about as dumb as the buffalo bills head coach who wasted OJ Simpson's first year in the league, by trying to make him a wide reciever....

No, you said he was too slow to play in the NFL.  THAT was half the argument.  But hey, way to call it Jimmy the Greek.  Brilliant!

Not only size. There was also the factor of not playing WR/RB (outside of his final season... briefly).

Point was- he wasn't going to be much faster than anyone else in the NFL. And that was about the only thing he had going for him while he was here. We saw it when we played better teams- when he couldn't use that, he wasn't very good.

Glad he's getting the paycheck though.

4.4 is faster than most of the players in the NFL

The lack of position experience, incompetence of the Jacksonville offense, and overall suckage of the Jacksonville offense has lot more to do with the lack of early success than anything. Denard is plenty skilled, those skills extend far beyond simple straight line speed. He needs an offense that is diverse enough to take advantage of his skillset and actually has some degree of talent. He also needs time and good coaching to learn a position.

I'd love to have seen him come to Carolina and let Steve smith help groom him. I think he could find a position in this offense
