Does he have a point?  I tend to agree with him that a supposed elite program can't garner more interest then it did.  Especially with all the other events surrounding that day.  Heck even Penn State had 72k show up.   Hoke needs to get with the program and understand that recruits and alumni want to see a spring game and not a practice.  He needs to understand the media attention these games get is important to the program.

This has gone on since Bo's time, IIRC.

The kids have practiced hard so why not let them hang it all out in a Spring Game and promote it as such?

The practice format has little to do with the attendance. This is a fan base that just isn't very excited about the state of Michigan football right now.

p.s The practice format was crap, and has been for years now. Can't blame a lack of depth either, we have plenty of bodies to have a true game now.

I think we had a pretty good crowd while RR was here. This is no way an endorsement of RR, just saying. I seem to remember there was something like 40k people in attendance for one of those years.

I think that was because of the buzz of the new offense and flash and all that stuff.

nobody wanted to sit in 40 degree weather and watch Borges call I-90 right 10 times in a row............LMAO

I wouldn't care if we had 10 people in the stands for the Spring Game if we were actually beating osu on a regular basis.

1. Miller is a jag, so I don't give 2 sh*ts what that ass clown says or thinks.

2. Michigan and Hoke think it's 1985 and need to understand that things like a spring game (helps with recruits and markets the program), social media, the Internet, etc are their best friends. Michigan is facing a difficult realization: the brand is lacking something. It was once thriving and the situation can be a hard one to come to terms with. You don’t have to spin too much of a brand narrative to sell a bottle of water to a thirsty man. But a run of success can cause complacency and that's where Michigan stands today. Muscles that aren’t exercised get flabby, and the same is true of sales and marketing skills. Success is awesome as long as it’s happening when living in the moment, but it isn’t always good preparation for troubled times. Senses get dulled, and you no longer pay attention to threats as sharply as before. Michigan needs to innovate and infuse new life into their brand.

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

Absolutely meaningless.  Just win when it matters and everything will take care of itself.

I would disagree with this.  I think it has EVERYTHING to do with the practice format.  I'm not driving 3 plus hours and freeze my a$$ off just to watch them practice in the Big House no matter if they are good or not.  Nobody wants to sit in sub-40 degree weather and watch the team run thru a glorified practice whether the program is in a good or bad state.  As others have said, attendance has always been poor, save for a couple of years when Rich Rod took over and actually tried to promote the thing to draw more fans.  And I would argue that the main reason for the poor attendance over the years is due to people not being interested in wasting their time watching what we saw from the Spring Practice a couple of weeks ago...

Clearly, attendance isn't on their priority list for this game with the powers that be at Michigan and quite frankly, I could care less about what our attendance is either.  I'd gladly trade off getting thru that final spring practice without any major injuries in front of a sparse crowd than risking a significant injury or two while playing a meaningless intra squad game just to try to draw a few more fans...

I follow Michigan football religiously and didn't know the spring game was last Saturday until two days before. That's a problem.

This!

How much did we even discuss spring practice while it was going on? Yes the practice format sucked but it always sucks. The interest level in Michigan football is at its lowest level probably since before Bo took over.

7 years of mediocrity in a row doesn't help.

Really nothing to see here.  He didn't even actually say anything, he just re-tweeted others tweets.

Ask Gene Chizik if a national title counts for anything.
