Al is very inconsistent. He hasn't used the offense to its full potential all year, and the second half of the Ohio game is prime example.
Just a few of Al's calls that baffle me:
1. Nebraska Game, 3rd quarter, 3rd and 8, he runs Bellomy on a designed QB run to the right. The fact that he called plays for Bellomy like he was denard infuriated me.
2. Ohio Game, 3rd quarter, we decide to go for it on 4th and 3. We take Devin out, and put Denard in at qb. Automatically the defense knows it is a run and they stop it. no problem. In fact, the three drives in a row that we paraded #16 out there at QB went nowhere. We might as well have just told them what our play was going to be, but we wasted 3 drives in a row putting someone who is incapable of passing at QB.
3. Ohio Game, 3rd quarter, Running our 5'6 165 running back up the middle on third down. We didn't even try to spread them out.
4. Ohio Game, Second half, Not having Devin and Denard out there at the same time. We were all excited for the "two headed monster" that Ohio was going to have to prepare for. Well, we let them off easy. Even put Denard out at WR. He is going to draw double coverage which can open up your other Wideouts. No imagination, poor play calling. We were totally backwards yesterday in the second half on Offense.
I also put some blame on Brady too. He needs to get a damned headset and take some responsibility for the offense.
If you truly believe that this man is the best OC in the country and deserves to be the highest paid OC in the country (which he is) , then you are crazy. Let's get a new OC in here (one that believes in QB Coaches) and let's run a pro style offense that has direction and intelligence.
To sum up this rant: this is a failure of a season. No B1G Championship, not even a share of the Legends Div. in a very weak conference. We need a Greg Mattison for our offense and Al isn't that.
