Taking the fanbase's temperature...

After two years on the job, how do you rate Al Borges's performance as Michigan's offensive coordinator?

What games has Borges won us?

Go Blue!!

Ohio St.'s actions are not unlike their lower intestine: stinky and loaded with danger.

OSU last year

Our D has been fine. It really hasn't cost us any games (it almost cost us vs Northwestern this year, it almost cost us vs OSU last year, that's about it.)

I voted strongly disprove but its more I disprove of how he wasted Denard most of the season then when we found something for him he wasted that in the final half of what mattered. If we can get someone better Replace him, If not Give him one more year to run a true pro style offense and then judge.

Al Borges won because of Defense stepping up and Denard Robinson.

Was anything said post game as to why Robinson wasn't used in the 4th at all?  Overseas so limited coverage to say the least.    He shows flashes of being a great OC, I loved his game last week...  but is almost like he overthinks things.  Its college you play your best plays and make the defense stop it.

I say one more year, but such a short leash it makes him sweat from not game to game, but half to half.

His playcallig in big games ON THE ROAD makes me start to strongly disapprove of him as an OC. He started off the game great yesterday and then failed miserably in the 2nd half. I mean how do you go from putting up 21 points and having Denard rush for over 100 yards in the first half to completely forgetting about Denard outside of obvious short yardage and not getting the football past the freaking 50 yard line???

I realize turnovers are on the players and we are committing FAR too many of those in road games as well, but you also had a defense that was continually bailing his offense out after turnovers and his offense did NOTHING in the 2nd half to reciprocate the favor to the defense?!

Al is very inconsistent. He hasn't used the offense to its full potential all year, and the second half of the Ohio game is prime example.

Just a few of Al's calls that baffle me:
1. Nebraska Game, 3rd quarter, 3rd and 8, he runs Bellomy on a designed QB run to the right. The fact that he called plays for Bellomy like he was denard infuriated me.

2. Ohio Game, 3rd quarter, we decide to go for it on 4th and 3. We take Devin out, and put Denard in at qb. Automatically the defense knows it is a run and they stop it. no problem. In fact, the three drives in a row that we paraded #16 out there at QB went nowhere. We might as well have just told them what our play was going to be, but we wasted 3 drives in a row putting someone who is incapable of passing at QB.

3. Ohio Game, 3rd quarter, Running our 5'6 165 running back up the middle on third down. We didn't even try to spread them out.

4. Ohio Game, Second half, Not having Devin and Denard out there at the same time. We were all excited for the "two headed monster" that Ohio was going to have to prepare for. Well, we let them off easy. Even put Denard out at WR. He is going to draw double coverage which can open up your other Wideouts. No imagination, poor play calling. We were totally backwards yesterday in the second half on Offense.

I also put some blame on Brady too. He needs to get a damned headset and take some responsibility for the offense.

If you truly believe that this man is the best OC in the country and deserves to be the highest paid OC in the country (which he is) , then you are crazy. Let's get a new OC in here (one that believes in QB Coaches) and let's run a pro style offense that has direction and intelligence.

To sum up this rant: this is a failure of a season. No B1G Championship, not even a share of the Legends Div. in a very weak conference. We need a Greg Mattison for our offense and Al isn't that.

Al Borges is the best DEFENSIVE coordinator in the country. He REALLY knows how to stop an offense.

He missed his true calling on the defensive side.

I believe al borges is a mediocre o-coordinator who can look great when provided exceptional talent...ala caddy williams, jason campbell, cade mcnown, etc...

I ask myself, if this guy is such a genius, why was he never employed by a prominent program after auburn? If he was that big of a deal he would have never been working at SDSU...

The bottom line is, Al isn't going anywhere yet. You know he is going to be given a chance to see what he can do next year running an offense that seems foreign to him with Denard under center.

We are either going to be proven wrong in our thinking that Al isn't the man for the OC or we will be throwing away yet another season due to his ineptitude as an OC...

Borges sucks and the fact that he's the highest paid OC in the country says 2 things: Michigan was beyond desperate and Al has barnyard animal pics of Hoke.  The guy has been a Class A loser from the beginning and is extremely inconsistent.  It's been the same complaint about the guy everywhere he's been.  Sure, give him two, 5-star studs at RB and another at QB like he had at Auburn and he'll win some games.  But sorry Al-so could every guy on this forum.  Make something happen when you DON'T have 5-star guys across the board.  Wait.  That's called...and I'm just spitwadding here...A COACH.  Yes, I'm certain I've heard that somewhere before.  This guy is Terry Malone all over again as they both have the same motto.  For Al, it's 'sit the single most dangerous player in the stadium the entire 4th quarter' while Malone's was 'let's completely ignore the fact that Steve Breaston is even on the field'.

Yeah, Denard not being on the field much in the 2nd half is baffling. Even if all you do is have him run a route out to the flat it takes a defender away from the opposing team because no defense wants to see Denard get the ball in open space.

Denard should have been on the field but not at QB in the 2nd half. Unless we were prepared for him to throw the ball. By the 2nd half, O$U was sending 9 guys whenever Denard lined up at QB.

Why the 4th and 3 call was so ridiculous. For 2 years now we've talked about putting the offense in position to fail instead of succeed.

Took this quote from here http://espn.go.com/colleg...le-ohio-state-buckeyes

"Yeah, we kind of knew what was coming when Denard was in and knew what was coming when [Gardner] was in," Ohio State defensive lineman Adolphus Washington said.

If Robinson was in the game, Michigan was going to run the ball without question. If Devin Gardner was in, there was a little bit more of a surprise, but more than likely the junior was going to throw the ball or try to.

Nowhere did this show up more than in the second half, when Ohio State adjusted to put nine players in the box when Robinson was in, essentially daring him to throw. Whether he couldn't or wouldn't, Robinson didn't. And that decision cost the Wolverines.

"Coach called the plays and we went with it," Robinson said.

For his part, Robinson said he could throw the ball after the game, despite the fact he barely threw in warmups. Even when Robinson saw Ohio State dropping safeties into the box in the second half, he couldn't -- or wouldn't -- change anything about the play.

Kinda backs up the point MF4L was making. And the fact that Denard did not throw a pass in that game was a crime against humanity. I can't think of any offensive coordinator that would not love a defense lining up 9 in the box.
