But, living here in Ohio constantly being surrounded by arrogantbandwagon 'Tressel era' Buckeye fans, I find it hard to bring myself toEVER pull for Ohio State. I have the same feelings as zaco withregards to two types of wins each week being a Michigan win and an OSUloss! I could care less about what the SEC loving talking heads atESPN say about how weak the Big 10 is because Ohio State keeps gettingblown out in high profile games. When they lose, their fans shut upfor a little bit which is a good thing. Even this close call withpowerful 30 point underdog OU got them to quiet down just a tad! And aUSC beat-down will maybe make them forget about having to give metheir opinions on how bad of a choice Rodriguez being hired at Michiganwas because they will have their own problems to worry about!!!

This is exactly why I posted my post. After 2002, so many OSU fans jumped the bandwagon that it makes me sick. Those bandwagon fans expect nothing less than perfection and it drives me up the wall. I literally hate them. Until my freshman year in high school, we beat Michigan twice in my entire life. Twice.

There is a thread on Bucknuts comparing the units of this year's defense to the best units in OSU history. For instance, the guy wrote that, "This year's linebackers aren't as good or aggressive as Chris Speilman or AJ Hawk". My response was simple: of course the talent on this year's starting 22 doesn't trump the best players in OSU history. If that we're the case, this team would be able to compete with the Detroit Lions.

It's almost sad that a lot of the OSU fanbase is as delusional as they are, but what are you going to do. I realize that there are ups and downs during seasons, and that is the result of not being a front-running homer. I love this team so much. The bandwagon fans who don't appreciate how lucky we are to be so successful right now drives me up the wall.

My closest friend in town in an OSU law school grad and neither one of us would ever tear up with each other about how everyone wishes they were were Maize and Blue/Scarlet and Gray because we know that is [word not usable at umgoblue.com] - we both wish each other's school would go to [word not usable ay umgoblue.com] - although we do discuss as reasonable adults how the team is doing, objectively, no hearts on the sleeve "I love you bucky" bs

My grandson's step father, a guy I love dearly, is a diehard MSU fan - when he started dating mom, I told him, "he's my grandson, you don't [word not usable at umgoblue.com] with his loyalties, I'll teach him not to trash talk" - a deal that has served us well - I loved it when the grandson called me and said "we beat them 49-3, what do I say that won't sound like trash talk?" -

but step dad would never cry on my shoulder about the glories of MSU everyone wishes they were us anymore than I'd weep in his arms about how I love the Wolverines, everyone wishes they were us

that is the problem with the original post - I'll save a discussion of cheering for the big 10 teams for another thread -

this is how my family feels about osu and I'll leave a word in since a child said it very innocently...

in 2003 I took my then eight year old grandson to the Big House for The 100th game and we were of course stuck in traffic on 23 and Washtenaw for several hours...

stuck in traffic we saw lots of males jump out of cars with Ohio license plates and ugly osu colors on the vehicles/bodies, the young males running from their Ohio vehicles to just off the expressway, ramp, and Washtenaw... and re;ieve their selves

the grandson said nothing as is his his custom, just watched - we must have seen 20 osu males do that...

on the way out of Ann Arbor, going down Washetaw, seeing more scarlet and gray clad males do the same again, he said"

Poppa, can you take me to colUMbus next year for the game?

And I said, well, I can see if I can get tickets

and the 8 year old grandson says, good, because I want to go to colUMbus next year and piss all over their town

that's how we feel about osu

talk about their team if one must but spare us the sob stories: my grandson doesn't want to be you, he wants to piss all over you, and we'll cheer for the big 10 team in the inter-sectional non-conferance match-up but when osu loses by 30 to usc we will laugh

It's funny how Tressel is God when he wins and how OSU fans are very critical of him when they lose or play sub-par. I see some calling for their OC Bollman to go, but what I don't get is how OSU fans don't get by now is that Tressel calls all the plays! He is the OC! Bollman is just a cronie sitting up in the booth giving his 2 cents.

Here's a statement from an OSU fan on Rivals:

OSU has same problems as last year

1. medicore at defensive tackle (although isn't as bad as the next three issues)
2. center and right guard are schockingly sub-standard players who shouldn't be on the field
3. zone blocking scheme is not working at all for this line.....I think Bollman teaches pass blocking pretty well but their run blocking is atrocius.
4. receivers (especially Robiskie) cannot get ANY separation against decent corners. they basically start three possession receivers with no deep threat.

Sidenote: Lauranaitis is a great kid with great measurables but does not have those natural instincts that a great LB has. He's somewhat overrated. Brandon Saine has fallen in with the wrong crowd and has been late to several practices.

All in all this is still a pretty darn good defense but the offense is not good enough to score much at all on USC. I expect OSU will be fired up at the beginning and may play much better than expected but if things go south early you may see frustration set in and domino effect.

Wow, where do you start?

1) Ireally could not care less about this rooting for the Big Ten in OOCgames, especially where OSU is concerned. What any of this has to dowith my team I have no idea. It's Michigan first. Period.

2) Ihave no problem hearing from OSU fans on this site. The few that comehere have been fun to banter with, for the most part. Don't reallycare about AVBucks impassioned plea to the troops as I'd rather hearmore specifics about the team but like it's been said, I don't have toread it.

3) I agree, without Wells OSU will not beat USC. Combine that with giving Petey 2 weeks to prepare for a game and I'mgoing with USC. And yes, I'll be rooting for USC.

Well said TK! I couldn't agree more with all three of your points! One of the things I like about this site is that the bucknuts who do post on here seem to be the ones I could hang out with and have a legit conversation about the rivalry. There doesn't seem to be much flaming if any from the regular bucknuts in here which is always refreshing.

I fully expect tOSU to get ass hammered by a couple TD's next week...(no disrespect) And I think the Trojans have some GREAT game tape to look at. YAY!

tUOS is very lucky to come away with a W. 5 OU turnovers and the non-call on the illegal block in the back kept OSU in it.

Isn't it ironic that despite winning the last two weeks, OSU has fallen in the polls the last two weeks? What do the pollsters know that Buckeye Nation doesn’t? Mmmmm......

I honestly don't understand why people root within the conference, and I've never heard a good argument to back it up. So the conference isn't called a joke by other fans with their own opinions? That's bull. Conference teams are like your enemies. Aside from the lowly ones like Indiana, Iowa, Minnesota.. you know, the teams that can come out and beat you, but don't traditionally have amazing seasons year after year. When it comes to the top teams, UM, OSU, PSU, ILLI, MSU, there should be no reason to ever root for them to win. Maybe in bowls but I still wont root for OSU in a bowl.

I respect them , I love the rivalry, and like I said in the other post, I watch them every week. But to me there are 2 types of wins each week. A UM win, and an OSU loss. Boo hoo if they call the Big 10 weak.. that's when we make it to the NC or Rose Bowl or any bowl and beat an SEC team. If Michigan can go to the capitol one bowl and defeat the defending champs and their heisman QB in their own state with little problem, why do we have to worry that USC beat ILLI in the rose bowl, or OSU lost another national championship.

Does Michigan get a trophy for another Big 10 school winning the NC that says "Conference brother of the national champions 2008"

As for the buckeye posts on this board... They arent even close to bad. The ones who are regulars here always come to talk friendly rival football. Nobody signs up to just post UM SUX!! and never come back.

It's not like this board gets 10 pages of new posts per hour like on one of the big sites.. It's more of a friends type atmosphere here where if you dont care about the subject of the post, you move on to the next one. It doesn't bury the important posts 10 pages deep that take you an hour to find.

USC only has to do what LSU did, the DB's play in OSU's WR's faces and jam them at the line then send the house on Boeckman. OSU's WR's are possesion receivers and aren't physical

Pryor had a couple of decent runs against YSU & OU but also looks tenative out there and got stuffed on more plays. USC will know when he comes into the game he will be in there to run the option or QB draw.

As Michigan fans we're familiar with what it's like playing against Tressel's Buckeyes, as well as flying out west to take on Petey and the Trojans.

IMO the Bucks aren't nearly on the same level with what USC has been doing lately. They'll have a defense that will bring tremendous pressure on Boeckman, and it's always tough as nails to run the ball on them. They make you earn every yard. Also, OSU has very average receivers that don't pose much of a downfield threat, if any at all. USC will throw everything they have at Boeckman and Wells unless a couple of big downfield pass plays makes them back off.

On offense I'm haven't seen much of Mark Sanchez yet, but USC always seems to have explosive playmakers all over the field who just have a way of rubbing all that talent in your face. They can put up points and put 'em up quick.

OSU is walking into a meatgrinder next week and the Trojans have to be licking their chops. I'm expecting another primetime blowout until Tressel shows me otherwise. But anything is possible, I guess, and I'd prefer to watch a great game.

If Wells isn't on the field the buckeye offense is actually pretty pathetic. I'm also predicting a QB controversy in c-bus later this season when Boeckman isn't getting the job done in a loss or two. TP looks as good as advertised so far.

Agree with everything you say except the QB controversy. Pretty solid analysis, can't disagree with much of it.

The only thing I will add is that USC doesn't really have the down-field threat either. They have a slew of possession receivers just like Ohio State with a bit more size.

Beanie is an absolute beast who may just be able to carry you guys and keep USC's offense on the sidelines. I hope he's healthy because it would be a shame not being able to see the best back in the country going up against the best defense this year. Just my two cents...

As far as this conference loyalty business goes, it seems to be ESPN driving this one forward with all this SEC nonsense.

I will admit getting caught up in it last winter when we had a lot of B10 bashing and Michigan was playing Florida IN Orlando, OSU was playing LSU IN New Orleans, and Illinois was playing USC IN SoCal. I mean that was just ridiculous and it kind of felt like it was us against the rest of the country.

I was kind of pulling for the Bucks and then I felt like a complete idiot as LSU piled up 31 straight points and coasted to an easy win. Never again LOL.

I root for all teams in the B10 in OOC or bowl games except for OSU and Sparty.

Personally, I care how the big ten does. not the Big Ten, but the big ten, everyone except OSU. They could go 0-12 every year and i would have absolutly no qualms with it. It all stems from the fans. I have met probably 6 OSU fans i could have a football conversation with, and 3 of them are related to me.
