If you don't understand why I have a problem with bring in Tate Forcier, check out the Forcier's website. The whole Forcier family rubs me the wrong way, from the over involved father all the way down the line.

And no I`m not questioning RR, I`m going based off RR, KN was target #1 over Forcier and any other QB for a reason. We're only now going hard after Tate because Kevin decommitted. Only now did an official visit get set up.

Thats kind of the point. Who does that, its not classy? Either way its not classy. Its disrespectfull imo. BTW im personally not mad, but its still imo disrespectufll.

According to Newsome, if "every aspect of Michigan is good" and he would "tell anyone how great Michigan is", then why is he looking elsewhere.

Sounds like he has no plans of coming here in the fall.

Two completely different scenarios. IF he bailed out on Michigan and did it by leaving a VM that is so beyond weak it's not funny. Man up and have the nads to talk directly to Rod. If you're signing on with someone, then leaving a VM to say, "Hey, I'm on board. Give me a call as soon as you can" is totally acceptable. But then again, that's the difference between a 17-yr old kid and a man so what can you do? Of course this is assuming that he did it this way. I don't know if we know what really happened here.

The bottom line is the kid is free to do what he wants and maybe he got a little over-excited and didn't think it all the way through. Kids do that. I'm not going to hate on the guy for that but if he's doing it to avoid competition then that's not a guy I'd want in the first place.

After watching the video it seems that he is probably getting outside pressure to look at schools close to home. He said Michigan is great about 15 times, and I am sure that we are still at the top of his list. I do not fault the kid for decommitting because I never really count guys until there is ink on paper.

I want to hear what Kevin has to say, so far everything i have read, was quotes from his Dad, or the recruiting sites.
What i don't get is why Scout would happen to just call him on the day he decided to re open his recruitment. That seems odd.

We know when he visited here, both he and his family had nothing but good things to say about Michigan, They went as far as to say they left with no doubts or concerns. Then just a few weeks ago Kevin at the Top Gun camp in FL was hanging out with Bryce, Big Will and Shaq and reaffirmed his commitment to Michigan, So what has happened in these last 2 weeks to change his mind. I would think this has got so much press, Keven will have to talk about this, and I want to hear what he has to say. I just don't believe he is afraid to compete, if anything i would bet on pressure from people in Va for him to stay in state.

I believe they are allowed to talk once per week per NCAA recruiting rules.

I mean no one except Coach Rod and Kevin really know how much they have been talking to eachother.

Could we please stop it with all the "Newsome's afraid of competition" nonsense? He hasn't said or done anything to suggest that.

He lives in Virginia. His ex-coach wants him to play in-state (meaning for Virginia Tech). Ever since he committed, there have been reports that members of his family have been telling him that he made his decision too early and that he owes it to himself to give full consideration to other options (Virginia Tech). Virginia Tech thought they had Tajh Boyd wrapped up, then he committed to West Virginia and left them without a QB recruit this year, so they've continued to come after Newsome with a passion. Whenever he goes anywhere, people lean on him about VT. I'm sure Michigan's staff knew they'd be battling for his loyalty down to the wire.

It's tough for a kid to commit to an out-of-state school under daily pressure from a local program, no matter how good a head he has on his shoulders.

Before we all commit Harry Carey ( I know spelled it like the annoucer) Lets not forget we have 2008 to play and what if Threet, Sheridan, or FEAGIN play out of their mind? I think we are selling what we have as opposed to what we might get short. Feagin maybe what we all are looking for. Lets see how 08 plays out I dont think we are in as bad a shape as people might think. Remember RR made Shaun King a starting NFL qb, not a good one but one indeed. How many were saying dang we didnt get King to commit??

I don't understand the Forcier bashing that always comes up. Unless you have met him personally, you can't have an opinion on his personality. If the kid is good enough to play at Michigan, and he wants to be at Michigan, what can anyone have against him?

Agreed. I don't entirely understand it either. Most of the previous posts I've read that have been fomenting this attitude towards TF seem to have been fueled by either misguided anger regarding his brother or the fear that his refusal to stop considering Michigan would scare off Newsome... and now Newsome's gone.

And it’s sorta been a vicious cycle. Throughout this entire tease that was Newsome’s fleeting commitment to Michigan, the shaky nature of his commitment justfueled the fan flames against TF even more. But at the same time Newsome's shaky commitment was providing a very good reason for Forcier not to drop Michigan, and continue to keep his Wolverine option open, since Newsome might be bailing at any moment.

That, and his family absolutely loves Michigan. Here's a Scout article from a few years ago about his brother Jason:

"After a Pop Warner football game, we’d go to a sports restaurant likeTrophy’s to watch Michigan play," Mike Foricer said. "All three boyswould be in their football gear lined up smallest to tallest, like goodlittle soldiers. They were just six, eight and 10-years-old. The crowdat Trophy’s restaurant loved them. Seriously, if you were raised in a family like that, and had an offer from Michigan on the table, and one of the QB commits looked like they were going to bail, would you have given up on playing for the Wolverines?

Not to mention, Forcier is a perfect fit for RR's offense. From ESPN (And, yes, I know ESPN's doesn't have the best rep in CFB recruiting coverage business):

Has had to play out of the shotgun often in order to see the entire field. Has ideal skills for his team's offense--excellent pre-snapreads, a quick release and great accuracy.

Hmm... shotgun. Excellent ability to make pre-snap reads. Whose offense likes to work from the shotgun and places a premium on pre-snap reads?

Forcier needs to find the right scheme to make the most of his abilities, but he shows outstanding intangibles, anticipation and savvy in the passing game.

And in need of scheme that sounds a lot like what RR can offer.

I just can't work up the dislike against a kid with the opportunity to realize a childhood dream and seems to fit the bill of what our offense needs at QB.

Now maybe I’m entirely wrong, but if Forcier does decide that Michigan is the best fit, and commits to our great school, I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt until he proves otherwise.

Personally, I think Beaver will be the one that comes out smelling like roses in all of this. I really think that Newsome wasn't afraid of Forcier committing and having to compete with Forcier for the starting job. I think he was more afraid of competing with Beaver.

Another note about Forcier, hasn't he and Beaver gotten pretty close over the whole recruiting process. I think that has something to why Forcier has kept Michigan at the top of his list. From the way it looks, Newsome may have just felt like the odd man out.

But, as I said, I really thought that Beaver was going to be the one to beat from this class of QB recruits.

Lastly, for all of you bashing on Forcier, is he really any worse than Newsome showing that he may be afraid of a little competition??? I'd also like to know why you are so down on Tate as well... We just keep hearing how you don't want Tate at Michigan, but I can't recall hearing any good reasons as to why. Just wondering, that's all...

The Mallet reference is saying "you don't know what you are going to get until they get here." I view the sentiment towards Forcier as completely the opposite of Mallet We thought we would love Mallet last year, and many voiced hatred when he left. Many people dislike Forcier this year...time will tell if that sentiment is correct.

Only a pessimist will assume the worst.

I am ignorant, what has Forcier done that has "rubbed many people the wrong way?"

You just validated all the Forcier bashing. Bringing up Mallett isn't going to help things.

Everyone loved Mallet last year...before the season started. These are 17-18 year old kids...we can't apply adult logic and decision making skills to them yet.
