Does anyone know the status of Grady? Is he still suspended? Will he be dressed for the game on Saturday? If so, will he see the field?

Did RichRod say that in one of his press conferences? Link? I'm not doubting you, ncd, I just like to be thorough before I go shooting off my mouth to the OSU fans in my office. Seeing that Grady was not listed on the depth chart for the Utah game would certainly indicate that he won't be playing in it.

Officer David Thompson said Grady told police he had had a "couple of shots" at Monte's Bar on Bridge Street NW.
"Mr. Grady thought he was on the East Beltline and driving home to Ada from the downtown area," Thompson wrote.

Living in Grand Rapids, I know where that bar is, where he got pulled over, and where he thought he was. Holy cow!! He was about 20 miles out of his way- heading South and West. He should have been going straight East from that bar, on a totally different road. Yikes- truly lucky he didn't kill someone.

That was classic. I thought the same thing too. What a stupid question.

The questions were used to see if the driver can use basic cognitive skills. Not being able to answer them shows how messed up Kevin was. It's amazing he got his car started.

I don't get why everyone thinks the punishment he received was lighter than any average person. First time offenders RARELY get jail time. They usually have an option of completing some sort of counseling in lieu of jail time and also so many hours of community service as well as having your license suspended and a fine. Looks to be on par with the punishment that Grady received to me...

Enough with the preferential treatment talk already...

west champ has a point here, and although now a days athletes are recruited pretty much purely based on skill, shouldn't we(as the best university in the country) strive and hope for more? Athletes of today are hardly upstanding citizens, I mean look at Penn State or tOSU. We don't want to be that so we should hold our athletes to a higher standard, that's why everyone loved Bo so much isn't it? The punishment he received was much lighter than you or I would have recieved simply because he's on a full ride too, so I find it hard to be sympathetic!

Today at the Media Day press conference RichRod said there no update on Kevin Grady. He was in uniform and partcipated in the team photos.

Coach Rod has shown that he's not gonna let him off the hook very easy. Everything Grady has been able to do he's apparently earned it according to RR. I think RR has done a good job dealin with the first off field issue that has to do with Michigan and not WVU

Boy thats some off the wall questions.. Here in PA I have never ever heard anyone asking questions like that.. Im not one to give DUI's but it is my job but I would never ask a question about mickey mouse unless I was just messing with the guy an or wanted to mess with the guy..

Grady's conduct is regrettable but I believe young adults should have the opportunity to make amends. Lest we forget, the great Michael Phelps himself has a DWI on his record.

No matter what, he's coming out of this better than my kids would behad it happened to them because they aren't a starters at Michigan.

If your son skipped school one day, would it be on ESPN?

If your son got in a food fight during lunch, would it be on CNNSI?

Kids get into trouble ALL THE TIME, I'm not condoning any of it, BUT frankly, nobody cares if your son is a choir boy or a terror in school b/c he's NOT playing for Michigan. He probably gets away with more than any football player at Michigan could EVER get away with. High school and college kids that are non-athletes probably get away with more crap than anyone else b/c they are non-athletes and not in the spotlight.

My wife's dumbass 18 year old cousin got busted for smoking weed in Iowa last summer. I might have been busy that day with work, but I don't remember seeing anything about it on the 11 o'clock news.

The Michigan football team is like family is a dreadful analogy, a really bad one.

I did not recruit my children, they don't have to meet certain expectations or get cut from the family, etc etc etc and I don;t have to buy a $60 @ seat ticket + other $$$$ to see them 7 times a year for a few hours in an afternoon.

His second chance is he did not kill anyone,

His second chance is that no one here has said away his scholarship.

His second chance is his pro career is all in front of him.

His second chance is that he is alive, because he was getting close to the fatal limit.

A .27 is more than 3 times the legal limit. You don't want to kick him to the curb? What does that mean? Have we shot him? Let him keep his scholarship. Let him use university resources for all the counseling, therapy, and substance abuse education he needs.

But he should not be representing Michigan.

No one has what Rodriguez is doing is too lenient - we'll see. But I don't understand the crying for Grady either. He has a been a favorite player for my family from western Michigan.

No matter what, he's coming out of this better than my kids would be had it happened to them because they aren't a starters at Michigan.

This is football. Not some chess club, or church choir. If you had it your way this team would have 10 players left and none of them would be able to win a ballgame. These guys are COLLEGE STUDENTS. As unfortunate and shameful as it may be - what Kevin Grady did is common among Americans, and especially young kids.
He got a scholarship for being a great athlete, not for being an upstanding citizen. Welcome to 2008. It may take some getting used to, but observe sports for a few weeks, and you'll get the hang of it.
