LOL, much easier ways to "tweak" the voting, but that would work till they caught on, normally quick. I did it the semi-honest way at first, picked my first vote on my Norad Machine, but i could just not stop, even a Pharmacology final in less than a week that I have to half ass make a 44 on to get an A, I just had to do it.

So after putting up the drug stuff(paperwork/books, not what you people are thinking I put on the 1982 classic Hackers, and started havin fun, first voting with all the machines I had in reach, 5, then 4 downstairs...rinse and repeat. Oh but had to involve the lovely neighboors, cracked into 2 wireless-N, and 3 POS non secured and using Linksys(sucks) routers...lost track of how many got cast Before I got bored and wanted to read more on here. Hey I wasn't "cheating" per se, I was mearly providing a valuable lesson to those with wireless near me and at the same time I got to vote a "few" times

In a final vote of 57% to 43%, the University of Ohio State (and their disco-ball helmets decorated with marijuana leaves) lost to Florida State.

Not really surprised about this outcome. I thought the vote might be closer, but I thought FSU had a chance to knock out the pot leaves in the first round.

What has to be a true shocker is USC losing to USF?! WTF?! Exactly what is that cross between a U and a bull supposed to be on USF's hemets anyways. Whatever it is, no way is it better than USC! I think USC has one of the best helmets going all the way down to the old-school grey facemasks. I'm betting there was an issue with hanging chads or something seeing as how the state of Florida was involved...

I was kinda hoping UM could face OSU in this helmet clash. I voted for them. I feel like Texas has the only shot of contending against the UM helmets as far as the rest of the teams are concerned... and that shouldnt even be close.

Sorry BigD, but this is a big NO SALE. Oregon has, without a doubt, the worst looking uniform's AND helmets in all of college football. The colors are puke, the design of the uni's is basically super hero pajamas some 5-year old might wear, and having multiple versions of ea. just makes it worse. The white helmet with the green O is ok, but the rest? I'm obviously a traditionalist but even still, these unis are brutal.

I'm not a fan of the current unis- the diamond plate kills it for me. I saw a version without them, a Nike mock-up, and they were pretty cool. They'll probably only be around another year or so anyways.

I did like the JoHa era unis, though. Thought they were sweet.

As far as the unique simple letter logos, I wasn't ripping on the logos per se. I was merely defending A&M from the criticism that a 5 year old could have come up with that design. There are a lot of schools that go with the simple letter logos that work IMO.

And as far as my comment about how many different helmets Oregon rolls out, it's called sarcasm. Personally, when you have more than one helmet, that's too many in my book! They might as well have 15 as far as I'm concerned...

I misread your post. I thought it was the one above it. I like A&M's logo as well. I think it's cool. Simple does work in college football for sure.

Regarding Oregon, I totally got the sarcasm. I was just showing that you weren't totally off-base there. In addition to the ones I posted, they also went with a different version of the yellow helmet in the bowl game 2 years ago, with the "O" on the back and a unique paint job which changed colors and had the flames.

Oregon, to me, has built a tradition on being unique and futuristic in what they do. I like a LOT of the Oregon stuff (although their uniforms would be so much better minus the diamond plating. That I don't like.) For the most part, traditionalists get put up in arms over UO, but it isn't as though Michigan, OSU, Tennessee, Bama, etc. are doing this. Oregon can pull it off and make it work.

I agree the O is not that special, the helmet color scheme to me looks fabulous. Yes A&M has tradition, some lame ones for sure, but their helmet is about as plain as it gets.

The Oregon "O" actually is quite unique. They patterned it after the aerial shot of Autzen Stadium:

And the inner portion was modified to resemble their track (track is big there- Prefontaine, etc.)

It's one of the cooler "simple" logos out there. As Michigan fans, with the block "M" we can hardly mock another school who also has a unique simple letter as a logo.

I assume the compression suits have caught on at the higher levels like they have in high school. Gone are the girdles, and thigh pads that float around in your pants when you run. Where I coach, the entire team is issued zip up compression suits made of the dry fit material that include shoulder shock pads, rib pads, hip, tail bone, and thigh pads. Moms love it too because the whole thing goes in the washing machine.

Yup. No more awkward fumbling with that belt than went through the hip and tail bone pads. No more trip after trip to the equipment room trying different models/styles of thigh pads, slipping them in and out of your pants until you find comfort. Nope. One shot, a nice compression short that is safer- no pad shifting- and combines with the ability of the pants to be tighter, which in turn allows a dri-fit technology to work for the lower body as well and allows players to be cooler and run faster.

We're going to keep running circles here, but if you think the revolution designed helmets, yearly changed shoes, embroidered letterings rather than painted, and tighter materials and form jerseys is "technology", you should see the stop watch!

I'm going to venture to guess you've never played with a Revolution helmet, worn the new uniforms or changed cleats then.

1. Revolution: We didn't have this when I played ball. Even when I was at UM, that wasn't around. When this helmet came out, I was working for the NFL and put one on in the Jets lockerroom. Compared to the older style helmets, it is amazing. Not only is it designed to decrease the probability of a concussion, it is way lighter and more comfortable. It fits better, so when you run there's less movement of the helmet. That is absolutely "technology" as applied to sport.

2. Uniforms: Again, until you've worn an old school jersey and pants and gotten soaked with sweat/water/etc. and packed on extra weight, you couldn't begin to appreciate what Nike/Reebok/Adidas have done to the evolution of the uniform with Dri-Fit/PlayDry/Clima-Cool technology. ****, just for working out it's vastly improved. I get team workout gear from the Pats that I run in. I have a PlayDry shirt and shorts that are unbelievable. When you're a player in camp and it's 90 degrees, it makes a huge difference. Practices in shorts and pads are MUCH more comfortable now than in the cotton shorts/Russell jersey days. The game jerseys aside from looking better have better functionality. They don't restrict movement anymore, they don't hold excess water and they keep the players cooler. Nike had developed "cool vests" for Oregon a few years ago I was hoping would catch on. The new material most pants are made out of is great, too. More comfortable, compresses in the right places to help keep the muscles loose. It may not seem like a big deal to a person not intimately involved in the sport, but a lot of science goes into the development of these changes. Athletes support them for a reason. If you don't think uniform technology is real technology, ask some swimmers about it.

This will be the talk of the Olympics this year with the new suit that NASA helped develop. I, being a former swimmer, was in college with the full body suits became the rage. I can't necessarily say that I got faster as result of only the suit but I can tell you that I felt faster, which in turn, produced faster times.

Technology is part of sport. Swimmers wear faster suits, football players wear materials to help them perform, golfers use graphite/metal shafts instead of wood, baseball players use performance enhancing drugs (cough), etc. etc. Sport changes and most times that is for the better.

I agree our bracket is pretty loaded, but we should still win this thing.

As far as the tradition argument going on here... Yes, the revolution helmets and form jerseys are technology. Read up on them. The helmets reduce concussions and the jerseys allow players to stay cooler while playing. Maybe I have no fashion sense, but I think Oregon looks ridiculous. I don't think you have to be Penn St plain to look good, but Oregon looks like they should be playing in Canada or soemthing.

Why is it ok to change the way something looks only to a certain extent? No one is complaining about the revolution helmets. The visors, etc. Yet - place a cool looking jersey on a team and oh no! Our clothing had...tradition!

lol It's a shirt. I'm also glad we're not wearing traditional track shorts that were cool back when floppy mesh jerseys were. You want to go back to painted on numbers too, right?

Give me a break. Talk about taking your arguments to extremes. There is a reason helmets, shoes and jerseys change. It's called technology. While Michigan's acutal helmets may be different today than they were 40 years ago, the wing desing ON the helmet remains virtually the same. Technology changes, but the tradition remains. While the jerseys Michigan wears may be tighter and more form fitting today than they were 40 years ago, they are still virtually the same in design. Once again, technology changes but tradition remains. You seem to have a problem differentiating between the two based on your argument...

Why don't you just go look at just about every team with more than an ounce of tradition from any sport. Baseball has the Yankees and BoSox whose uniform designs have basically been unchanged over the decades. The NFL has the Cowboys, Packers, Browns and Bears to name a few as further examples. College football has too many to list. On the flip side there are also numerous programs that I could give two flips about like Oregon that throw tradition to the wind when it comes to their uniforms. Those are the types of uniform design I can do without and that is why I am thankful I am a fan of a team like Michigan where I'm hopeful I won't have to worry about seeing Oregon-like designs on a Michigan uniform for a loooong time!

The only helmet I picked that lost so far is Penn State.

BTW, Michigan won by the largest margin to date: 68% to 32%. Alabama had the previous largest margin of victory at 67% to 33% over NM.

Tomorrow's clash between ND and Texas is arguably the toughest 1st round matchup. I'm voting for Texas, although I'm sure that all of the bandwagon Domer fans will vote the Irish through...
