sigh...yet another depressing, disappointing notch in the "L" column. and yet another Michigan women's b-ball season slouches toward the abyss. 2-5 in the conference and the only team they have been able to beat is Iowa. Too bad Michigan does not have any more games against them. Phillips is horrible. 3-14 from the field, a missed FT and FG at the end that could have made all the difference, and only seven boards. She should be averaging about 20 pts and 10 rebs per game. Looks like Hicks did not bother to show up for this one either. And that IMO has been one of the major reasons for Michigan's lack of success for so many years now. Not enough players show up and play well on a regular basis. At one point it was Tabitha Pool carrying most of the weight with most of the rest of the team doing little or nothing. Or it was Jennifer Smith putting up big numbers but getting hardly any support from the rest of the team. Tonight it was Reynolds with 20 points and no one else in double figures. When is this team ever going to win consistently in the conference??????? Well, the home rematch with tOSU is up next, and Michigan has a week to prepare. I really, really hope they can win this one, and continue winning. I fear that tOSU will win easily. Please prove my fears wrong, Michigan women! EVERYONE needs to play their "A" game, EVERY GAME. We need AT LEAST two players in double figure scoring, and the shooting HAS to improve. Please, give me something to believe in.

Yes, this was another game that should have been won by the Lady Wolverines. I think it is a combination of things. I see indecision in what strategies should be used by the coaches. - 2-3 zone that we were getting blasted in because this team is defensively weak and can't even get out to defend the perimeter. Then, back to man-to-man and we played decently but, not well enough. Offensively, it was back to pass, pass, pass, shoot. Carmen was hitting tonight but K.P. wasn't and usually isn't. So, I have to wonder why we are running the offense through her. The coaching staff needs to decide what they are going to do. In the beginning of the year Coach Borseth said they would need to get out and push the ball. They did that out-of-conference but get in The Big Ten, where I believe it would be more successful, and abandon it for a half-court strategy with young ladies who do not have great basketball I.Q. Their spacing is horrible too many times. Sometimes it seems as if they don't know where they are supposed to go. They bring their defender to the basketball to get the ball instead of creating space for the ball to get to them. There are a litany of reasons why we are losing in The Big Ten and the entire team, coaching staff included, shoulders the blame. You cannot build your success around a player who hasn't proven they can carry you. You cannot rely on 3 point opportunities that take 25 seconds to develop when your team can't turnaround and defend. Too much wasted time. Sigh....I'm still praying and hoping.....

I wonder how much the travel schedule change impacted this result. I know that they are young and resilient, but practicing in the morning and then leaving at noon to hop on a plane for a 7:00 game seems a bit much. I can understand when they do that to drive to MSU, but flights are harder to adjust after.

Mzone, you may have a point. I keep forgetting that this is a very young group that has been on the road the majority of their schedule so far. The travel plus adjustment to studying and practice, etc... is a lot for a young lady to adjust to. I should, indeed, give the team some room for adjustment. Let's hope the week off gives them time to rest mentally and physically for Thursday's game.
