No Point Guard=Bad Team - Thursday, February 04, 2010 2:57 PM ( #1 )
The main problem with this team is that they have no PG. Plain and simple. One of the best 3 pt shooters is playing a position that he has never played which limits his looks. And he is the worse ball handler I have ever seen and I played in college and have watched countless hours of B-Ball. He is a good player but not a PG and I realize he was forced into that role. JB needs to suck it up on two fronts

1. Play D. Morris more and sit Novak. Novak needs to come off the bench. I would rather live with a PG who cant shoot than a Three man who cant shoot. Note to JB the guy who is playing the 3/4 needs to score my friend especially in college. And since Novak aint 6'8 and or a shot blocker all the floor diving in the world aint gonna cut it. Yes Morris will turn it over but he would be alot better if JB had stuck with him. This will allow Stu to roam and get his looks.

2. Suck it up and bring Grady back. Regardless of how he played last year he is a better alternative than Stu at PG. Plus grady can at least run the offense and spell Morris on occasion. Plus at least Grady can penetrate thats the only way they are going to get Down low stuff working is by dribble penetration.

I know they will not make the tourney but they do have a chance at playing well in the B10 tourney and in the NIT. UM owns the the NIT it should be called the UMIT.

Uneek, I agree with you on point #2. I have never understood why Grady got in the doghouse last year. He was a bit reckless with the ball from time to time but he did bring energy and the ability to get the ball in the lane.

I do not necessarily agree with you that Novak needs to come off the bench. While he has limited upside, he is about the only player that seems willing and able to give close to 40 minutes effort. Despite his lack of height, I like his ability to get offensive rebounds and junk baskets. But, either way, I agree that Morris needs to start playing more if for no other reason to get experience for next year.

Maybe I have it in for Novak but I just am tired of his "intangibles" because frankly they dont contrbute much. He gets off rebounds but cant finish. He is shooting horribly and he gets beat on def alot. I do realize he gives effort but I would like to see him come off the bench and maybe play more down the stretch. He could spell LLP and maybe that will help his shooting.  JB needs to leave Morris in and let him learn by fire. He only gets better if you do that plus I believe the scoring will get better when Stu is roaming and shooting the three he is by far the best shooter on the team better than Manny.

Also they need to penetrate more and get to the line!!!!!

What's Dickie V always say, Guard play is the most important thing in college basketball.

Go Blue!!
The division between the Rich Rod supporters and the Rich Rod bashers/Carr supporters is amazing and has turned this place upside down.

Way to show up today Michigan. 44 poins is what Manny and Sims should be able to score COMBINED!!!
5, yes FIVE Wolverines scored in this game. I think I'm pretty much done with having any hope of a decent season. Yes, I'll still come in the forum to share my thoughts but as fortrying to catch a game live I'll save my money or go watch the Butler Bulldogs. At least they give effort.
