Minnesota @ Home - Monday, February 08, 2010 7:28 AM ( #1 )
This game really deserved its own thread. I was having IE issues all weekend and didn't get around to posting much.

This was the first win over Minnesota since 2004. I don't know if there are stats somewhere on margin of victory for a Big Ten game, but this might have been the best ever.

KB started clearing the bench with six minutes left, and everyone played. All but one scored in a second half that saw the team shoot 74%! The shooting percentage looked even more impressive when Minnesota only shot 17% in the same half. The turnovers were horrid for both teams, but when you make 56% of your shots the turnovers don't look quite so awful. KP shot a perfect 5-5, and three of those were from behind the arc.

MSU lost to Iowa, so U-M, at 7th place, sits just a half game behind the Spartans and Hoosiers at 5th.

In scanning a recent media guide we beat Penn State 98-59 om tje 96-97 season.  I remember that game because I was there.  Strangely Penn State beat us 7 days earlier 73-82.  Also in 2005-06 season our team that went 0-16 in the Big Ten beat Fordam 98-55.

Another first for me, a Michigan women's hoop game that I knew was going to be a blow out so early that it should have been boring.  But the players kept playing so great that I loved it to the end.

Minnesota just wasn't ready for, well, a team that was that much better than them.  The only thing they were good at was stopping drives into the lane from the double H's (Hicks and Hollins).  Those two were great everywhere else so that didn't impact anything.

Jenny Ryan was "all earth".  Loved her play.  Can't wait to see her after a year or two playing at this level.

Krista is beyond devastating when her shot is that hot.

Reynolds was her usual great self.

Can wait to see us against Sparty!

You should see the posts on the Minnesota Women's basketball forum!!  They are ready to ride Borton out on a rail, and are completely disrespectful of the players on the team, by name.  Truly sad.  If any of the players read the posts, they will be entirely without confidence.  And any recruits reading the posts will think thrice about going there.  Given the nastiness and the complete lack of confidence in the program, we should do well at the Barn on the 25th!  Anyone going out for it?
