Indiana #2

Since Mzone hasn't had a chance to get out here, I figured I would go ahead and start the thread so that I could talk about how awesome our Lady Wolverines played today! Great game by all of the starters! Roni played awesome and we really needed her back. Day, Carmen, Jenny, and K.P. played well also. Nya is becoming a great force off the bench and I am very excited about her play. I am glad to see some of the other players get time on the court so that they will have some experience come next year. We started out slowly and horribly but, thankfully, so did Indiana. We really kicked it in gear offensively and defensively the second half. 3 Big Ten wins to match last season. Now it's time to get get more! GO BLUE!!

Yup, a bad first half but still I saw hope. With only average ball control and shooting we could have been up 10. Then the second half started and my eye's pop'ed out. The team needs to sell whatever they drank at halftime! Wonderful way to start an afternoon!

OK...now THAT was more like what i want to see!!!!! Great work, Wolverine women! now, keep doing the things you did right against Indiana in each and every remaining game. Looks like it is a four way logjam between Michigan, Illinois, Northwestern and Iowa. Ohio State looks to be in the driver's seat for first place but after that it is still pretty open. Penn State has a slight edge on the rest of the pack but not by much, and Michigan still gets to play them twice. Really nice to see Michigan only one game behind Sparty in the conference standings!!!! A very big world of possibility is out there for you, Michigan Women...time to take it to the next level and move on up the ranks.

Thanks for the link Mzone, I loved the improvisation in the second half. We were getting fast break baskets from "tenacious D" outside of the arc where a player would break-out right at (or even before?) the UMich player would force a turnover. I have been following this team for close to a decade now and I can't remember a Umich team that could do that! So very sweet. The days are of teams seeing us as "an easy stop" are gone.

Yep, it's been a decade since there's been that kind of speed and defensive abilty. Stacey Thomas broke the Big Ten steals record in 2000 (and she won the B10 DPOY). The team had 293 steals that year but was even better in 1999 with 332.
