"Big Blue Bar Brawl"

Linked One of our good friends over at Mike Valenti's SportsInferno.com tipped us off to this. Scorekeepers in AA tried to keep a lid on it, but word on the street is that Donovan Warren and Brandon Graham got themselves (and other UM athletes) into a bit of a scrum that ended with AA police on the scene and Graham in handcuffs and the back of a squad car. Quotes from witnesses at the scene included "So I was at Scorekeepers tonight and I personally watched D-Warren get reject from the door and an hour later I'm chilling with the bouncers (one of my buddies is a bouncer so I know all of them) and apparently Brandon Graham go physical with the Skeeps bouncers and was taken away in a squad car. I don't know if any other players were involved, but I do know B-Graham was taken in a squad car for starting **** with bouncers at skeeps" "Graham was uber pissed he can't get his boys in. Started pushing and shoving with the bouncer. Cops called. Graham in the back of a squad car. The bouncer was not being a dick. He was doing his job. " A quick review of the Ann Arbor Police blotter doesn't list this, but we've seen in the past where the blotter didn't list all the details when it involved a Michigan Football player (Markus Curry) More details as we find them. Just found this... Dated March 15th. Of course... this is from a message board, so the information may not be all that accurate.

BigHouseFootball I happen to think getting handcuffed and put in the back of a squad car is a big deal. Been there 4 or 5 times....It's not a big deal.

WOW... definitely hails in comparision to "MO C" or Boone or the rest of the Dirty 30 plus. Sounds like a typical Gator fan that loves to bag on our program when thier programs "arrested kids" are far worse...example Fla. Gator AK-47. Buckeye fan, can you even name 30 players in UM HISTORY to be arrested, not just the last 5-10 years (tUOS or UF). Get off kids that are contained, (was B. Graham or Donovan even charged) and try convincing yourself that your program has far worse problems. GET REAL.

It's true. I don't know if those are exactly right but there was a couple more starters involved. It's not that big of a deal, otherwise it would be in the newspapers.

And here we go again. Any OSU player as much as get looked at by a cop and we jump all over them. One of our guys gets arrested and you all come running to defend. It goes both ways folks. Big time screw up by our boys and if it turns out to be true-most of the time it does-then they need to be punished accordingly. No big deal? I happen to think getting handcuffed and put in the back of a squad car is a big deal.

With technology today you essentially have reporters every where 24/7 so these things come out a lot more. With that being said M has a great reputation for all it's athletes both on and off the field. How did we get that reputation? By punishing our athletes when they screw up-even a little bit. M doesn't look the other way, they tackle it head on, they make an example of it, "Hey, if you screw up, this is going to happen to you." We hold our programs and athletes to very high standard, it's what separates us from the other programs around the country and we can see that standard slip in a hurry if all of a sudden we start to look the other way or just give little slaps on the wrist.

Hate to break it to you but we've been giving out slaps on the wrist for awhile now. There are programs that kick players out for getting busted with weed or a DUI, we use to under Bo but not anymore.

IF this is all true and BGraham was taken, punishment needs to happen and happen quickly. I can't BELIEVE our players even put themselves in that situation. Graham has the world at his fingertips, as does Warren. Bonehead bonehead decision. I just really hope punishment can be taken care of before the season starts. He needs to be running the stairs at the bighouse like Arrington. I really hope this isn't that big of a deal. Seniors should be very disappointed.

Ant was just putting the information out there, guys. There is no need to jump down his throat. He didn't say "Oh Michigan's got terrible kids, Michigan is an awful program, etc." In fact, he said it may not even be completely true. Everytime a Buckeye messes up, we are quick to point out how awful there coach is at disciplining his players and other things of the like. And then, someone doesn't even accuse us of having a bad program, and we get all defensive. Whether we like it or not kids EVERYWHERE, inculding Michigan, make mistakes. So if this is true, so be it. I'm sure the kids will learn from it. And if it isn't, then it will slide by the way side. But don't be so hypocritical by bashing Buckeyes when they screw up, but as soon as we (possibly) screw up you jump straight to the defense line... GO BLUE!

Sorry that's pretty funny. Even if I was a big bouncer, Brandon Graham is still a pretty large dude. Id let him in.

Just a guess, but I think he may have been offering up a little sarcasm. And in any case, using 21st century standards of uncivil behavior, if he wasn't tasered it couldn't have been too big of a deal!

BHF~Why do you always just assume we approve of what happened or we think they should just get a slap on the wrist???????? Because what I said was "Man, that's a crazy sounding "bar brawl"...." and I think there were a few more very similar comments. But BAR BRAWL???? Come on! This sounds like they were trying to get in, bouncers wouldn't let them, words were exchanged, tempers flared and a little bit of pushing went on. Didn't sound like a big fight or punches were thrown. It sounds petty to me. And when cops are called and bouncers are getting messed w/, they're gonna put whoever was involved in cuffs and in the cop car until all is settled...That's how it works. Just because he was put in a cop car doesn't mean he messed someone up or got all ghetto on him! I'm not saying it's cool for him to lose his temper and act like an idiot, but I think we've all been there. I don't even know why I'm explaining myself to you, but quit taking everything out of freaking context ALL THE TIME. It's getting old................

I'm actually, for once, w/ BGH on this one. It does work both ways. To sit here and defend BG and DW while at the same time bashing buckeyes for doing similar things is pretty hypocritical. Furthermore, to sit here and say "we hold our athletes to higher standards because we're MICHIGAN"---that reflects a certain persona that is largely responsible for where the program is at right now. "We're MIchigan, Leaders and Best!!" (lolol) There might have been a difference in the standard 30 years ago but now everyone's in the same boat. The sooner the old folks and people with the "old guard" mentality realize this, the sooner we get out of the rut.

I don't see anyone defending BG or DW. I see people questioning if anyone got arrested or charged with anything, I see people asking for details. If they didn't get arrested or charged with something like disturbing the peace, this is less serious than a speeding ticket. They probably got some finger wagged in their face about "knowing better" and to not let it happen again. My comment was meant to question the use of the word "brawl" in the title. To me, a brawl means a fight. You know, where punches get thrown, maybe a bottle or chair are thrown into the mix. People getting hurt. A brawl. Not an argument with a bouncer. True Mich Fan described pretty accurately what I believe happened. I used the word "believe", because I haven't read a single article about this in any paper or sports site. Sorry, but Mike's Sports Inferno isn't exactly a credible source. Is there anything on MLive regarding this?
See you in another life, brother.
